Site proposal

A planning application was submitted in May 2007 for the redevelopment of the former Ushers Brewery Bottling plant site in Union Street on behalf of Barton Finch Ltd.

The proposals are for :

• A new supermarket
• A range of new shops
• 236 town centre car parking spaces
• 119 new homes and flats (of which 30% will be affordable homes)
• Public square
• Cafes and restaurants

Latest news

The planning application (ref. 07/01911/OUT) is currently the subject of negotiations between West Wiltshire District Council, Barton Finch and their planning and technical consultants.

When the scheme proposals were exhibited at the West Wilts Show in July 2007, a survey of public opinion was carried out. Of the 1,019 responses received, 99.3% were in favour of the principle of the site's development.
